Weather sometimes forces us to cancel or refund trips. However, permitting, kayakers may opt for the Grand Island tour for a reduced rate. Given its location in Munising’s Bay, Grand Island is typically protected from winds that cause tall waves. This means a safe paddling surface. Grand Island is quite the hidden gem, with a serene calm not found in other areas, while still offering the same gorgeous geological rock layers as the national lakeshore. While it’s an alternate tour, it packs a punch and you certainly what have any regrets. Since the tour is often after rain, kayakers can enjoy dozens of waterfalls they find along the island up close.
